Development Update
Development activites increased during the first half of 2011 with a number of projects being completed and other major projects commencing.
Key Worker Housing
Setting a benchmark for affordable, eco-friendly living, HH have teamed up with Koho architects to d eliver key worker accommodation on the Gold Coast. This development at Surfers Paradise will incorporate 8 independent units, all with; kitchenette, bathroom and deck as part of a large house. This project has been designed to utilise environmental design principles and through many community partnerships this project will be built to a minimum 8 star standard under the Building Energy Rating Scheme (BERS). Featuring 6KW of Solar power, large rain water tanks and water treatment, a green wall to reduce heat and recycled sustainable products this property will challenge the notion that “green” housing is a more expensive option. Targeted at providing accommodation for key workers such as teachers and hospitality employees, this project will deliver much needed affordable and sustainable accommodation in the heart of the Gold Coast. Disability Housing A new model for quality shared accommodation has created a unique opportunity for HH to fill a gap in delivering housing for people with a disability. This development, designed by Koho Affordable Housing, incorporates 4 independent units as part of larger shared house. All of the units have a private kitchenette, bathroom and deck, making it possible to have personal space and independence while living in shared accommodation.
All apartments are generally adaptable and have between a six star and 8 star BERS rating. Designed to look like a normal house this accommodation is highly flexible and could be used as a template for a new type of low-cost aged care or student accommodation. | ||||
